About
Richard Ha, MD, is Vice Chair, Radiology Outpatient Imaging Operations and Chief, Community Radiology at Montefiore Einstein and Professor, Radiology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ha has expertise in breast cancer imaging and the clinical application of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology.
Dr. Ha earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine in 2005 and completed his radiology residency at the University of Washington and Mount Sinai in 2010. He then completed a fellowship in body and breast imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2011.
As an internationally renowned physician-scientist, Dr. Ha’s research focuses on the clinical application of artificial intelligence-based imaging algorithms and novel innovative imaging techniques. His work has been supported by numerous research grants, including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) research scholar grant, the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute (NIH/NCI) grants and several industry-sponsored grants. Widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to radiology, Dr. Ha has authored over 100 scientific publications and presentations and is frequently invited to lecture nationally and internationally on topics such as breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), novel imaging techniques and AI in clinical practice. He has co-authored numerous textbook chapters and has written Breast MRI: Teaching Atlas. Dr. Ha serves on the editorial boards of prestigious journals, including the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Breast Cancer Research. In addition to his research, Dr. Ha has made significant contributions to radiology education. As the Director of Education at Columbia University Medical Center for over a decade, he developed a comprehensive breast imaging curriculum for residents. On a national level, he is a faculty member for the Breast MRI Course at the American College of Radiology, refresher courses at RSNA and the Society of Breast Imaging Fellowship Symposium.
Dr. Ha is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society and the Society of Breast Imaging. Dr. Ha has received numerous awards for his work, including the Best Scientific Paper Award from the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine, the Magna cum Laude Award for Excellence in Scientific Research from the American Roentgen Ray Society and the Quality Improvement Reports Award from the Radiological Society of North America. Dr. Ha has mentored countless trainees and junior faculty, earning the Research Mentor of the Year Award from Columbia University Medical Center and serving as a principal scientific mentor for NIH-KL2, Komen Young Investigator Award, and ASCO Research Foundation awardees.
