About

Madelyn C. Renzetti, MD, MHS-MedEd, is Medical Director, Respiratory Therapy – Moses Campus at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Renzetti is passionate about critical care medicine, and how its unique combination of advanced physiology, technology and teamwork come together when patients and families need it most. Working in collaboration with nurses, therapists and consultants, she restores stability, communicates clearly and supports families with compassion during some of the most challenging days of patients’ lives. Dr. Renzetti has a particular clinical interest in the intersection of patients with substance use disorders and critical care, especially patients with opioid use disorders. She places patient autonomy and values at the center of her patient care, and uses every encounter to build trust and rapport between patients and the medical system.

In 2014, Dr. Renzetti earned her Bachelor of Arts in biology focusing on cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry. She then pursued her Doctor of Medicine at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, earning her medical degree in 2019. Her post-graduate training began with her residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center from 2019 to 2022. She continued her education with a clinical fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital starting in 2022, completing it concurrently with her Master of Health Science at Yale School of Medicine in 2025.

Dr. Renzetti’s research focuses on the use of opioid agonist therapies in critically ill patients with opioid use disorders. She is also involved with medical education research, with particular interest in peer and near-peer instruction in point-of-care ultrasound training. She has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, abstracts and posters as well as numerous invited lectures, workshops and symposia.

Dr. Renzetti is board certified in pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine and internal medicine. She is a member of the Chest College of Physicians, the American Thoracic Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
