About
Dagny E. von Ahrens, MD is an attending surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein. She specializes in liver and kidney transplantation as well as robotic surgery for cancer and benign disease of the liver, bile duct and pancreas. She takes an individualized approach to each patient with an emphasis on compassionate care and communication.
Dr. von Ahrens graduated in 2014 with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors from Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. She performed basic science research in pancreas cancer during her NIH-funded fellowship in Surgical Oncology. She went on to complete her residency in general surgery at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell in 2020 followed by a clinical fellowship in transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. von Ahrens is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and a member of the International Hepatopancreaticobiliary Association.
