About
Irene Osborn, MD, is Director, Non-Operating Room Anesthesia and Professor, Anesthesiology at Montefiore Einstein. With more than 35 years of clinical experience, Dr. Osborn’s focus is in neuroanesthesia, including anesthesia for awake craniotomy, cerebrovascular surgery, and spinal surgery. In addition, she has expertise in airway management, neuromonitoring and anesthesia for diagnostic and interventional radiology.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in biology from University of Akron in 1976, Dr. Osborn attended University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, earning her medical degree in 1980. She completed her internship at Jacobi Hospital in 1981 followed by her anesthesia residency at Einstein in 1983 and fellowships in cardiothoracic and neuroanesthesia at Einstein in 1984.
Throughout her career, Dr. Osborn has conducted clinical research on a variety of topics including airway management, anesthetic considerations for functional neurosurgery, scalp nerve blockade, and neuroimaging. She has shared her findings through peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, book chapters, and presentations at national and international conferences.
Dr. Osborn is board certified in Anesthesiology, and is a member of several professional associations including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society of Neurosurgical Anesthesia and Critical Care, and the Society for Airway Management.
