Tamara L. Joseph, NP

Tamara Joseph is a Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in neonatal intensive care. Her clinical background spans Level III and Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), perioperative nursing and general plastic surgery, giving her a well-rounded, detail-oriented approach to newborn assessment and care. In her role, Ms. Joseph provides comprehensive postnatal evaluation and management for late-term and term newborns, ordering and interpreting labs, imaging and diagnostics per protocol while prescribing both inpatient and discharge medications. She collaborates with the care team and family to develop individualized care plans and provides newborn care and feeding education. She closely monitors clinical status, stabilizing and coordinating transfers for infants requiring a higher level of care, and coordinates care across disciplines from admission through discharge. Ms. Joseph also participates in interdisciplinary rounds and procedures, contributes to the teaching of residents and students and is actively engaged in quality improvement initiatives, research support and continuing education.

Ms. Joseph joined Montefiore Einstein in 2010 as a Registered Nurse in the NICU, where she worked for over a decade before moving into ambulatory surgery nursing and then transitioning to a Nurse Practitioner role in Plastic Surgery. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pace University in 2006 and her Master of Science in Nursing from the same institution in 2020.

Ms. Joseph holds certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Throughout her career, she has taken on leadership roles as a charge nurse and Code Blue/Rapid Response team member, and she is a dedicated preceptor who has trained and mentored new nurses and nursing students. Combining deep neonatal expertise with a calm, hands-on leadership style, she is committed to providing comprehensive, family-centered care that supports healthy outcomes for every newborn in her care.
