About

Catherine Mackey, MD, is an attending physician in the pediatric division of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and clinical instructor at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Mackey’s clinical interests include the treatment of pediatric and adolescent musculoskeletal problems with a particular focus on neuromuscular disease affecting the extremities, foot and ankle disorders, limb deformity and traumatic injuries.

Dr. Mackey’s medical education began at Yale College, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2014 with a dual major in molecular, cellular and developmental biology and the history of science and medicine. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2018 from Georgetown University School of Medicine, where she was named Valedictorian. Dr. Mackey completed postgraduate training at Montefiore Einstein with an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery from 2018 to 2023. She subsequently completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, which she completed in 2024.

Dr. Mackey’s current research interests include the advancement of care and outcomes for patients with neuromuscular disease and foot and ankle disorders, as well as outcomes of scoliosis and pediatric fracture management. In addition to contributing to orthopedic texts, she has shared her research in peer-reviewed journals, poster presentations and podium presentations. Dr. Mackey is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
