She is also a credentialed member of the National Register for Health Service Providers in Psychology.

As Director of Child Welfare Programs at Montefiore's University Behavioral Associates, Dr. Jose ensures that families involved with the New York City child welfare system recieve high quality assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention services. Her current academic research focuses on child maltreatment, especially as it co-occurs with substance use; she has also studied the couple-related areas of relationship satisfaction and relationship violence. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences in each of these areas. She has also been invited to deliver presentations on her work to policy makers, including presentations to two federal Commissioners, and the Commissioner of the NYC Administration for Children's Services. She has personally presented her work to the office of a U.S. Senator and the Office of the Mayor of the City of New York. Due to her knowledge of trauma and its mental health correlates, she is currently serving a 4-year term as a member of the CDC World Trade Center Health Program Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee.

As a clinician-educator, Dr. Jose has delivered training seminars on child maltreatment and relationship violence to psychology interns and externs, psychiatry residents, and house staff from other departments. She has also provided clinical and/or research supervision to psychology interns and graduate students, psychiatry residents and other house staff, medical students, and junior faculty.

Dr. Jose's clinical expertise has a foundation in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT); she also has training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic psychotherapy. In practice, she utilizes a transtheoretical treatment framework, to maintain flexibility and support the therapeutic alliance. In her faculty practice, Dr. Jose specializes in the comprehensive psychological assessment of adults and adolescents, and the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress. She is experienced in providing psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups.
