About

Julian A. Gingold, MD, PhD, is a reproductive endocrinologist and reproductive surgeon at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is on structural causes of infertility, including endometriosis and fibroids, recurrent pregnancy loss, in vitro fertilization (IVF) and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Dr. Gingold is an experienced minimally invasive surgeon who performs both hysteroscopic and laparoscopic procedures to address patients’ symptoms and optimize their fertility.

A graduate of Harvard University, Dr. Gingold received his Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and physics and Master of Arts in chemistry in 2007. He went on to study developmental biology as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Icahn School of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Philosophy in 2013. He completed his medical degree at the same institution, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2015. Dr. Gingold began his postgraduate training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, completing his obstetrics and gynecology residency in 2019. He then came to Montefiore Einstein for a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, completing it in 2022.

Dr. Gingold’s research interests include assessing fertility and embryonic quality using genomics sequencing data and analyzing IVF national registry data to investigate the impact of various fertility treatments on clinical outcomes. He was deeply involved in the creation of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) Endometriosis Classification system used to stage surgical complexity and has been involved in AAGL practice committees developing guidelines for minimizing blood loss at the time of laparoscopic myomectomy. He has also been involved in multiple scientific collaborations in the field of cancer biology. Dr. Gingold’s extensive research experience has led to over 50 peer-reviewed publications, 3 book chapters and dozens of conference abstracts and presentations. He is a reviewer for several medical journals including Fertility and Sterility, the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology and the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, among others.
