Latoya S. Townsend, NP, DNP

Ms. Townsend’s current focus is hematology/oncology, working in outpatient medical oncology and bone marrow transplant. Her responsibilities include working collaboratively with oncologists to deliver care to patients undergoing active chemotherapy treatment and caring for patients who have completed treatment and are being monitored for disease recurrence and long-term effects of treatment. She also collaborates with oncologists to implement plans of care before, during and after bone marrow stem cell transplant and cares for patients in the terminal phase of illness, especially symptom management. Currently, she works as the Clinical Lead on the Cancer Survivorship Program Committee and is a Lymphoma Survivorship clinic provider.

Ms. Townsend has been with Montefiore since 2015. She previously worked as a Staff Nurse at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, The Osborn (Long Term Care Facility) and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (Medical Surgical Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant unit). She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing at Mount Saint Mary College in 2007 and her Master of Science as adult nurse practitioner at Molloy College in 2012. She then completed her Doctor of Nursing as adult gerontology nurse practitioner at the same institution in 2020.

Ms. Townsend is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Oncology Nursing Society and the Jamaica Nurses Group of New York. She has presented for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, virtual program: Life Beyond Blood Cancer: An Afternoon of Education and Survivorship.
