Opeyemi Ajibade, MD, MS, is an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Hematology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ajibade’s clinical focus centers on benign hematology, with a focus on sickle cell disease. She is currently the Director of the Sickle Cell Disease Transition Program at Montefiore Einstein, addressing the medical, social and physical needs of young adults living with sickle cell disease. Her mission is to provide and ensure comprehensive, seamless and compassionate care to those living with sickle cell disease as they transition from pediatric hematology to adult hematology.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in health science from Stony Brook University in 2009, Dr. Ajibade earned her Master of Science in basic sciences at Stony Brook University School of Medicine in 2013. She remained at this institution to complete her Doctor of Medicine in 2017. Following this, Dr. Ajibade attended the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein, where she completed her pediatrics internship and residency in 2020 and a fellowship in pediatric hematology oncology in 2024.
Dr. Ajibade’s research aligns with her clinical focus in hematology. She has performed translational research and worked on several quality improvement projects. Dr. Ajibade has shared her work through national, local and regional abstracts as well as oral presentations.
