Ethan Krell, MD

Ethan Krell, MD, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Orthopedic Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Krell’s clinical interests include rotator cuff and labral injuries, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and multi-ligament knee reconstruction, meniscus and cartilage preservation, shoulder arthroplasty and sports-related tendon injuries. He integrates the latest techniques and evidence-based practices to return his patients to their optimal level of function.

After earning his Master of Science in biomedical sciences at Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in 2015, Dr. Krell earned his Doctor of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2019. He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Montefiore Einstein in 2024, followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in 2025. During his fellowship, he provided team coverage for the New York Jets, along with several local high school football and hockey programs.

Dr. Krell’s research interests include biomechanical, functional and patient-reported outcomes associated with multi-ligament knee reconstruction. His work has been shared through numerous peer-reviewed journals, presentations, abstracts, poster publications, books and book chapters.
