Dr. Schultz earned his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and served as the Harold G Scheie fellow in glaucoma at the University of Pennsylvania. He is an associate examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and received an honorary award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is presently Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Friends of the Congressional Glaucoma Caucus. He is currently investigating the effect of Flomax on the iris dilator muscle to help improve surgical outcomes in patients undergoing cataract surgery. In addition, he is involved in advancing the surgical uses for the Trabectome®, a new surgical procedure for the treatment of glaucoma developed in part by a physician at Montefiore.
