About

Ethan Ravetch, MD, MS, is a breast surgeon at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor of Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ravetch’s clinical focus centers on benign and malignant breast disease as well as minimally invasive surgical techniques to prevent lymphedema and improve cosmetic outcomes. As an educator and researcher, he is involved in projects to enhance patient understanding and self-advocacy with breast health and breast disease.

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007, Dr. Ravetch completed his Post-baccalaureate in premedical sciences at Columbia University in 2010. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in 2015. Dr. Ravetch undertook a research fellowship at The Rockefeller University, where he earned his Master of Science in clinical and translational science in 2019. He completed his general surgery residency at Montefiore Einstein in 2022, followed by a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2023.

Dr. Ravetch’s research focuses on the prevention and management of lymphedema as well as breast cancer and breast health among transgender patients. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed publications and poster presentations.

Dr. Ravetch is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He belongs to many professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology. He also holds a leadership position within the New York Metropolitan Breast Cancer Group. Dr. Ravetch has received the Leo M. Davidoff Award from Montefiore Einstein for excellence in teaching medical students.
