About

Mordecai Koenigsberg, MD, is Director of Ultrasound and Director Emeritus of the Diagnostic Residency Program at Montefiore. He is also a Professor of Radiology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Koenigsberg’s clinical focus is on ultrasound applications in diagnostic imaging.

Dr. Koenigsberg received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry in 1959 at Yeshiva College. In 1963, he received his Doctor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center in 1966. Dr. Koenigsberg became a Research Associate at the National Institute of Mental Health from 1966 to 1968, and then assumed the role of Research Physician in 1968 at the Division of Computer Research & Technology at the National Institutes of Health. In 1974, Dr. Koenigsberg completed a fellowship in Academic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center.

Dr. Koenigsberg’s research focuses on techniques for ultrasound guidance of interventional procedures, Doppler applications for elucidating physiological flow data, ultrasound tissue signature assessment, and the application of 3-dimensional ultrasound reconstruction for imaging diagnosis. His work has been published in many reviewed journals, books, abstracts, and review articles. It has also been presented nationally.

Dr. Koenigsberg is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of numerous professional societies, and is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology.
