Taryn Wassmer, MD

Taryn Wassmer, MD, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Wassmer is a fellowship-trained specialist in pediatric and adolescent gynecology. She treats young patients with a wide range of gynecologic and reproductive needs, including contraception, menstrual disorders, oncofertility and fertility preservation, dermatologic concerns, pelvic pain, endocrine disorders (including polycystic ovarian syndrome and pubertal development disorders), Müllerian anomalies, ovarian masses and differences of sexual development.

A graduate of Cornell University, Dr. Wassmer earned her Bachelor of Arts in biology and English in 2014. She then came to Einstein to pursue her medical education, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2019. Following her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Maimonides Medical Center in 2023, where she served as administrative chief resident, Dr. Wassmer went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric and adolescent gynecology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in 2025.

Dr. Wassmer’s research focus is on evidence-based surgical care for children and teens with complex gynecologic conditions including congenital anomalies, menstrual obstruction and reconstructive surgery. She has shared her research through peer-reviewed journals, case reports, abstracts and oral presentations.

Dr. Wassmer is a member of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG), the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
