About

Wei Chen, MD, is an attending physician and Associate Professor, Medicine (Nephrology) and Developmental & Molecular Biology at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Chen’s clinical focus is in the treatment of kidney disease, kidney stones and vascular calcification, as well as dialysis.

After completing her Bachelor of Science in biology at Saint John’s University, Dr. Chen pursued her Doctor of Medicine at Renaissance School of Medicine Stony Brook University, completing it in 2008. She came to Einstein for her internship and residency in internal medicine from 2008 to 2011, then continued at Einstein to complete a three-year nephrology fellowship as well as her Master of Science in clinical research methods in 2014.

Dr. Chen’s research studies vascular calcification in patients with chronic kidney disease using bench-to-bedside translational approaches. She has shared her research through several peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, editorials, book chapters and regional, national and international presentations.

Dr. Chen is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and a member of several professional organizations including the American Heart Association, the North American Vascular Biology Organization and the Chinese American Society of Nephrology. In 2019, she was recognized at Montefiore Einstein with the Department of Medicine Rising Star award. In 2022, she was honored as a Department of Medicine Faculty Scholar.
