Ihuoma U. Alozie-Uddoh, MD, is an attending ophthalmologist and surgeon at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Alozie-Uddoh’s clinical focus is in glaucoma, cataract, diseases of the anterior segment and diabetic eye disease treatment. In addition to performing standard glaucoma and cataract surgery, Dr. Alozie-Uddoh offers minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), Femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery and advanced technology premium intraocular lens implants. For diabetic eye disease, she offers advanced diagnostic technology as well as laser treatment and collaborates with retina surgeons when necessary.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from City College of New York in 1991, Dr. Alozie-Uddoh pursued her medical education at State University of New York, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 1995. She interned at Hospital of Saint Raphael, Yale University School of Medicine before completing her ophthalmology residency at Howard University Hospital in 2000. In 2001, she completed her glaucoma fellowship at Tufts University-New England Eye Center/Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.
Dr. Alozie-Uddoh’s research centers on glaucoma. She has shared her work through publication in peer-reviewed journals and abstracts. She has also performed international research in West Africa (Ivory Coast and Nigeria) and India.
Dr. Alozie-Uddoh is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
