About

Arie Franco, MD, PhD, is an attending radiologist at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Radiology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Franco’s clinical focus centers on cardiothoracic imaging, particularly in cardiac pathology in pediatric and adult populations. He is also interested in adult congenital heart disease and chest oncology.

After earning his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Montpellier in Montpellier, France, in 1975, Dr. Franco completed his pediatric residency at Rivka-Ziv Hospital in Zefat, Israel, in 1979. He then moved to the United States to continue his medical training, earning his Doctor of Philosophy in medical informatics at the University of Utah in 1991, followed by his residency in nuclear medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center in 1993. Dr. Franco then completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Harlem Hospital Center in 1999, followed by a fellowship in pediatric radiology at the Children's National Medical Center in 2001. In 2015, Dr. Franco completed a fellowship in diagnostic cardiovascular imaging at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Dr. Franco’s research focuses on imaging in cardiothoracic oncology and congenital heart disease. His work has been shared through numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations, and he has co-written a book titled Radiology Case Review Series: Pediatric Imaging. Dr. Franco has been a reviewer for Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR), a pediatric radiology section editor for the Journal of Radiology Case Reports and a nuclear medicine section editor for the Journal of Radiology Case Reports.

Dr. Franco is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. He holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Pediatric Radiology and is certified by the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computerized Tomography. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM), among others.
