Miriam Harel, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor, Urology at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Harel specializes in a comprehensive spectrum of pediatric urologic care, with a particular interest in reconstructive surgery, neurogenic and non-neurogenic voiding dysfunction, prenatal hydronephrosis and posterior urethral valves.
In 2003, Dr. Harel earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology at Brooklyn College, State University of New York (SUNY), as part of a combined BA/MD program in conjunction with SUNY Downstate. In 2007 she completed the program, receiving her Doctor of Medicine degree. She began her postdoctoral training with SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, completing an internship in general surgery in 2008 and a urology residency in 2012. She then undertook a pediatric urology fellowship at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, completing it in 2015.
Dr. Harel’s research focuses on renal injury secondary to obstruction and infection, as well as clinical outcomes research regarding treatment of vesicoureteral reflux and pediatric varicocele. She has shared her research findings through peer-reviewed journals, posters, abstracts and podium presentations.
Dr. Harel is board certified in urology with subspecialty certification in pediatric urology. She is a member of the Society for Pediatric Urology, the Society for Fetal Urology and the American Urological Association.
