Diane E. Bloomfield, MD

Diane E. Bloomfield, MD, is Associate Division Chief, Clinical Affairs, Academic General Pediatrics and Medical Director, Pediatrics, Family Care Center at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Pediatrics, at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Bloomfield’s clinical focus centers on general pediatrics and school-age children with mental health concerns. After earning her Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1978, Dr. Bloomfield earned her Doctor of Medicine from Cornell University Medical College. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at The New York Hospital and remained at this institution to complete a general pediatric fellowship.

Dr. Bloomfield’s research focuses on educating pediatricians and allied health professionals on the assessment, diagnosis and management of school-age children with mental health concerns. Her involvement in the assessment and treatment of children with social and emotional health conditions began in 2007, when she became the team leader at Montefiore for the Reaching Children Initiative Learning Collaboration with the National Institute of Child Health Quality (NICH-Q). She is a content expert and educator in the New York State Office of Mental Health Project Teach program. This program’s goal is to educate pediatricians and increase their ability to treat children with mental health disorders Dr. Bloomfield has been invited to share her knowledge at many regional, national, and international presentations. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, books, chapters and review articles.

Dr. Bloomfield is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Academic Pediatric Association. In 2014, Dr. Bloomfield received the Leo M. Davidoff Society Award for excellence in the teaching of medical students. She has also been named in Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors.
