Vipul R. Nayi, MD, Master of Sciences

Vipul R. Nayi, MD, MSc, is an attending gastroenterologist and Assistant Professor, Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Nayi specializes in disorders of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), diverticulitis and functional gastrointestinal disorders.

From 2004 to 2011, Dr. Nayi attended Stony Brook University, earning his Bachelor of Science in pharmacology in 2008 followed by his Masters of Science in health science/physiology. He continued his education at Eastern Virginia Medical School, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2015. Dr. Nayi then came to Montefiore Einstein for his postgraduate training, completing his internal medicine residency in 2018 and his fellowship in gastroenterology and liver disease in 2021.

Throughout his career, Dr. Nayi has contributed to research in different topics throughout gastroenterology and liver disease, including gut microflora/fecal microbiota transplantation, lymphocytic esophagitis and perioperative risk in patients with cirrhosis. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed journals and poster presentations.

Dr. Nayi is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He is a member of several professional societies including the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In 2018, Dr. Nayi received the Leo M. Davidoff Society award for outstanding achievement in teaching medical students.
