Alex S. Ha, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor, Orthopedic Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Ha’s clinical focus is on the spine, with particular interests in adult spinal deformity, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, adult degenerative spine pathology, Scheuermann's kyphosis, congenital spine deformity, complex cervical, thoracic and lumbar revision surgeries, lumbar disc herniation, cervical spine herniation, and cervical and thoracic myelopathy and radiculopathy.
After earning his Bachelor of Science at New York University in 2010, Dr. Ha attended Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2015. He pursued his postdoctoral training at Columbia University Medical Center, completing an internship in general surgery in 2016, followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery in 2020 and a clinical fellowship in adult and pediatric comprehensive spine surgery in 2021 under Drs. Lenke, Riew and Lehman.
Dr. Ha’s research focuses on prevention and risk factors for proximal junctional kyphosis, a common complication following adult spinal deformity surgery, as well as global spinal alignment in adult spinal deformity surgery. He has shared his work through many peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts and podium presentations at national and international conferences.
Dr. Ha is a member of the North American Spine Society and AO Spine North America.
