Anibal O. Puente, MD

Anibal O. Puente, MD, FACS, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. With extensive expertise in minimally invasive and open surgical approaches, Dr. Puente’s clinical focus spans the full spectrum of general surgery services from common surgeries to complex surgical oncology.

After completing his Bachelor of Science at Military Academy General Belgrano in Santa Fe, Argentina, Dr. Puente earned his medical degree at the National University of Rosario School of Medicine in Argentina. He continued his medical training in New York, completing his general surgery residency with Cabrini Medical Center at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Dr. Puente’s research focus follows his clinical interests, with his work shared through peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Puente is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is past president of Bronx County Medical Society, and a member of several professional societies including the Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Hernia Society, among others. Dr. Puente has been recognized for his skills, with honors including the “Peer to Peer” Excellence in Medicine award and recognition as Outstanding Laparoscopic Resident by the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons.
