Prashanth V. Sreeramoju, MD, MPH

Prashanth V. Sreeramoju, MD, MPH, is Director, General Surgery at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, General Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Sreeramoju is a leading authority in abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia repairs. He uses minimally invasive and robotic techniques and is distinguished by his unwavering commitment to excellence.

After earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at Gandhi Medical College in Secunderabad, India, in 2000, Dr. Sreeramoju moved to the United States to continue his medical training. He earned his Master of Public Health in epidemiology and public health education at Western Kentucky University in 2003 and completed his general surgery internship at St. John Medical Center in 2004. Following this, Dr. Sreeramoju completed his general surgery residency at Montefiore Einstein in 2008 and was Chief Resident until 2009. Dr. Sreeramoju then completed a performance improvement fellowship at Montefiore Einstein in 2017.

Dr. Sreeramoju’s research focuses on hernia and acute care surgery. His innovative contributions, particularly in general surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction, including hernia surgery, have earned him acclaim. Dr. Sreeramoju is committed to guiding the next generation of professionals and sharing his expertise through numerous articles and presentations at prestigious conferences both nationally and internationally. He has more than 40 publications and 116 citations, and is a reviewer for the Journal of Biomaterials Applications and Surgical Laparoscopy Endoscopy & Percutaneous Techniques.

Dr. Sreeramoju is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American Hernia Society (AHS), the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Dr. Sreeramoju has been named in New York Top Doctors for multiple years, and he received the Best Teaching Award from Montefiore Einstein in 2022. He speaks multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu and Urdu.
