
Janhawi Kelkar, MD
About
Janhawi Kelkar, MD, is a medical geneticist at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Genetics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Kelkar cares for children and adults with a broad range of indications for genetic testing, and is particularly interested in telomere biology disorders and neurogenetic conditions, including neurodevelopmental disorders.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in human biology, health and society from Cornell University in 2017, Dr. Kelkar earned her Doctor of Medicine at the Frank H. Netter M.D. School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University in 2021. She then completed her combined residency in internal medicine and medical genetics at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2025, where she served as Chief Resident of medical genetics in her last year.
Dr. Kelkar’s research centers on rare genetic disease diagnosis in undiagnosed individuals. Her work has been shared through peer-reviewed journals, national oral presentations and national and international poster presentations. Her research efforts include collaboration with the New York Center for Rare Diseases (NYCRD). Dr. Kelkar is a member of the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG).
