Farah Alam, DDS, is Director, Special Care Dentistry at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Dentistry and Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Alam’s clinical focus centers on providing comprehensive dental care to individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities utilizing a variety of behavior management techniques.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Cincinnati in 1992, Dr. Alam completed postgraduate coursework in biology and biochemistry at the same institution until 1994. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery at New York University College of Dentistry in 1998 before completing her general practice residency at Jacobi Medical Center in 2000, where she was Chief Resident in her final year. Following this, Dr. Alam completed a fellowship in special care dentistry at Montefiore Einstein in 2007.
Dr. Alam’s research focuses on special needs dentistry. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed publications and she has given several presentations.
Dr. Alam is a member of the Special Care Dental Association, the America Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association. In 2014, she received a Community Award from the Bronx Developmental Disabilities Council, and in 2017, Dr. Alam was awarded a Fellowship in Special Care Dentistry by the Special Care Dentistry Association.
