About
Roman Margulis, MD, is Anesthesiology Site Director, Wakefield Hospital and Assistant Professor, Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Margulis leads anesthesia services at Wakefield Hospital including the Montefiore Joint Replacement Center, which has received Advanced Certification by The Joint Commission. A talented regional anesthesiologist, Dr. Margulis is an expert in ultrasound guidance and utilizing peripheral nerve blocks, catheters and neuraxial techniques to ease patients' pain during the perioperative period.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science in biology from Stony Brook University in 2006, Dr. Margulis pursued his medical education at St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies, earning his Doctor of Medicine and Masters of Public Health in 2011. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Staten Island University Hospital in 2012, and his residency in anesthesiology at New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center in 2015, taking on the role of Chief Resident in his final year. He then came to Einstein to complete his regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine fellowship.
Dr. Margulis’ research focuses in ultrasound, regional anesthesia in ambulatory surgery, and adjuvants in regional anesthesia. He has published research on topics including the benefits of regional anesthesia, brachial nerve blocks for patients undergoing total shoulder arthroplasty, and post-dural puncture headache treatments for COVID-19 patients.
Dr. Margulis is board certified in Anesthesiology and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia.
