About

Mahmoud R. Abu Zahra, MD, is Director, Bronchoscopy Program at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Abu Zahra’s clinical focus includes advanced and interventional pediatric bronchoscopy, severe asthma, aerodigestive disorders and interstitial lung disease.

In 2017, Dr. Abu Zahra earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Jordan, School of Medicine, in Amman, Jordan. He completed his general pediatric residency at Jordan University Hospital in Amman in 2022, then came to Montefiore Einstein for his pediatric pulmonary fellowship, completing it in 2025.

Dr. Abu Zahra’s research focuses on bronchoscopy, asthma, interstitial lung disease and sleep medicine. He has shared his research work through peer-reviewed journals, case reports and poster presentations at international conferences. He is an editorial board member of EC Paediatrics and Scholastic Open Access, an associate editorial board member of the Journal of Neonatal Research and Pediatric Care, and a reviewer for several medical journals including BMC Pediatrics and Clinical Pediatrics, among others.

Dr. Abu Zahra is a member of the American Thoracic Society.
