About
David Gonzalez, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in treating sports injuries. He is an expert in performing arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery, including rotator cuff repair, instability repair, labral repair, meniscal tears and the treatment of associated conditions. He is the Director of the Sports Medicine section and serves as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Gonzalez is a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Gonzalez graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine with honors and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Nirschl Orthopedic Center at Virginia Hospital Center-Arlington.
The results of his research have been presented at local and national professional meetings, and has been published in peer-reviewed journals. His recent findings on the basic science of rotator cuff tendon healing were presented at the Orthopedic Research Society Meeting in March of 2016.
Dr. Gonzalez is Team Physician for multiple high schools and colleges. He was honored with the Pedro Vialet award for his dedication in caring for the athletes at Lehman College. Dr. Gonzalez has been featured as an expert in Sports Medicine on ABC news. He is also fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Gonzalez was elected to serve as a Member of the Council of Delegates for the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
