Brian Marcus, MD

Brian S. Marcus, MD, is an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Marcus’s clinical focus centers on managing children before and after cardiac surgery in the cardiac intensive care unit, and utilizing extracorporeal technologies, such as extracorporeal membranous oxygenation and continuous renal replacement therapy, to support critically ill children.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry from Columbia University in 2012, Dr. Marcus earned his Doctor of Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine in 2017. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital in 2020, followed by a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the Yale School of Medicine in 2023. He then completed an additional fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin/Children’s Wisconsin in 2025.

Dr. Marcus dedicates his research to understanding thrombosis in patients undergoing mechanical circulatory support. He also advocates through the American College of Cardiology for equitable access to care for all individuals with congenital heart disease. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications, and he has given many national and international presentations. He has been a reviewer for scientific journals including the Journal of Pediatric Intensive Care, Cardiology Research and the Journal of Electrocardiology, among others.

Dr. Marcus is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
