About

Michael W. Silberstein, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is Chair, Surgery at Montefiore New Rochelle. Dr. Silberstein’s clinical interests are in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. His bariatric surgery focus includes gastric banding, bypass and sleeve gastrectomy as well as revisional procedures. His general surgery focus is on gallbladder disease, hernia repair and foregut surgery (anti-reflux surgery.) Dr. Silberstein was the first to perform single-site robotic cholecystectomy in all of Southern Westchester County and the Bronx.

After earning his Bachelor of Arts at Dartmouth College in 1999, Dr. Silberstein attended the New York University School of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2004. He completed his residency at the New York University Department of Surgery in 2009, taking on the role of Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Silberstein continued his postdoctoral training at Hackensack University Medical Center, completing his fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery and robotic surgery in 2010.

Dr. Silberstein’s research has been shared through peer-reviewed journals and poster presentations.

Dr. Silberstein is board certified in General Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, as well as a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
