Monica A. Spencer, NP

Monica Spencer is an Acute Care Thrombosis Nurse Practitioner, specializing in the management of venous and arterial thromboembolic disorders, as well as conditions requiring anticoagulation therapy. Working within a multidisciplinary team, Ms. Spencer delivers care across both the inpatient and outpatient settings at the Moses and Weiler campuses, ensuring safe and effective anticoagulation management, patient education, perioperative planning and thrombosis risk mitigation. Her role also includes caring for patients with rare bleeding disorders at the Hemophilia Treatment Center.

Ms. Spencer joined Montefiore Einstein in 1999 as a Staff Nurse in the Progressive Surgical Care Step-Down Unit, providing post-operative care for complex surgical patients, including monitoring arrhythmias, managing labs and infections, educating families and coordinating discharge planning. She then moved to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she served as a staff nurse and frequently as a charge nurse in a Neuro/Surgical ICU, managing critically ill patients with advanced monitoring and life-support technologies, including mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic lines and complex medication drips. She played a key role in quality assurance, staff education and patient/family teaching, focusing on recovery and lifestyle changes. Ms. Spencer earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from New York University in 2002 and her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) at the same institution in 2009.

Ms. Spencer holds certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
